What to do

1. Download the windmill template (click on the link below, it will open in a new window as a PDF format image), print it out.

2. Lay the template face up on a table and place the plastic on top, using a pen/pencil and ruler trace the pattern onto the plastic, remembering to mark the small circles (if you are making this with card you will need to cut out the template place it on top of the card and draw around it then cut it out).

3. Cut the pattern out and then cut along the diagonal lines. Use the hole punch to punch through the circles at each corner.

4. Working in a clockwise direction fold over each corner to the middle of the plastic/card. Carefully thread the map pin through the four holes pushing the pin through the marked point in the centre of the plastic/card.

. Hold the windmill tight and push the map pin firmly into the dowelling/garden cane until secure. I intended to use a garden cane as I used when making the daffodil but the pin was too long and stuck out of the back so I found the dowelling to be a better option. You may need to tap the pin in with a hammer or drill a pilot hole in the dowelling if the pin is too hard to stick in.
