Introduction

WARNING: These tiny crabs will quickly multiply until they become an army. I made over 30 in 10 days. You have been warned.
The Teeny Tiny Crabs only take about a half hour each and were designed to use a very small amount of yarn. They’re perfect for that tiny bit of luxury yarn that you don’t want to waste but doesn’t seem to be enough to make anything else. Stick a magnet in them and watch them take over your fridge, hang then on the Christmas tree and have a crab filled Christmas, make enough for all your friends to have one, or stuff them with cat nip and watch your cats go crazy! The possibilities are endless

Materials List

1 3.75 mm (F) hook
7-8 yds of scrap worsted weight yarn
Small amount of fiberfill/stuffing
Stitch Marker

The crabs are worked in a spiral. Don’t join rows unless otherwise specified.

The Pattern

Row 1: Starting at top of make an adjustable ring, ch 1, and sc 6 into the ring, pull closed
tightly, place marker and move up with each row (6)
Row 2: 2sc in each st (12)
Row 3: (sc in next st, 2 sc in next st) x 6 (18)
Row 4: (sc in next 2 st, 2 sc in next st) x 6 (24)
Row 5: (sc in next 3 st, 2 sc in next st) x 6 (30)
Row 6: fold the circle in half, slst the edges of the folded circle together, remember to
stuff your crabs before you finish closing them off! (15)
Row 7: ch 4, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch back to the body (3 sc and one leg
formed), (sc in next stitch, ch4, sc in 2nd chain from hook, sc in each chain, sc in
next stitch) x 3, sc until the last 4 st (6 sc), (ch 4, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in
each ch back to the body and sc into the next sc) x 4
Cut yarn and pull through st. Weave in ends and embroider on eyes across rows 3 and 4.
